What Does Bell PTSA do?

Advocacy: The PTSA is the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the United States. Many programs we see in our schools today (e.g., kindergarten, pre-school, hot and healthy lunches, arts in education, etc.) are the result of PTSA advocacy efforts. To learn more, and to get involved with the advocacy work in Washington State, click here

Supports our School: The PTSA provides grants to teachers and specialists every year, funds a significant portion of all field trips at Bell (approx. $6-$8K per year), funds the Artist in Residence Program (i.e., Mrs. Lustgarten), offers support in the school via volunteerism, supports the Pantry Packs program (providing food to Bell families in need), and much more! When schools closed in March and many families were financially struggling, Bell’s PTSA worked with the community to raise funds. The funds ($2,560) were used to purchase grocery gift cards for Bell families in need. Additionally, back in May, the PTSA voted to approve the following:

$3,500 to fund a library book expansion

$2,500 for art supplies needed for the Deep Space Sparkle art curriculum

$2,000 for 12 EDU breakout kits (problem solving/ critical thinking educational games)

Community Building: While we don’t know what this year will look like, we have historically had many events each year that bring our community together (e.g., back to school picnic, multi-cultural night, talent show, art walk, monthly Bulldog dine-outs, etc.).

Educational Enrichment: Again, this year will look different, but we hope to bring some of these programs back later this year (TBD): Before and after-school enrichment classes, S.T.E.M. Night, The Artist in Residence program (Mrs. Lustgarten), Reflections art program, school play, etc.

Supporting Bell Families in Need

The PTSA is working closely with the school counselor to advocate for Bell families who need support during these challenging times. We have a number of families who need help with obtaining groceries, clothing, headsets for computers, etc. Throughout the year, we will continue to update this list of needs. Please click here to select a specific item to donate. Please click here to donate funds for purchasing grocery gift cards.

How Can I Help Bell?

The best way to support the Bell community is to:

(1) Get involved – become a member, attend meetings, join the board, or volunteer your time (see below for some current volunteer needs). While we can’t be in the building at this time, there is still a lot we can do together to support Bell students, families, teachers, and staff.

  • To become a member, click here. NOTE: All memberships expire at the end of each school year. Please make sure to sign up to become a member today!

  • We have a number of volunteer opportunities right now, including (1) website support, (2) translators needed for Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, etc. (3) fundraising. Email president@agbellptsa.org if you're able to help!
  • PTSA General Membership meetings will be held via Zoom on the following dates: 9/25, 11/12, 2/25, and 4/22 (sign-in details will be sent prior to meetings via the Bulldog Blast, for privacy reasons)
